Newham Council saves £70,000 with Unboxed

Unboxed worked with Newham Council to address the challenge of improving digital services for its 360,000+ residents amidst tighter budgets and growing, diverse needs. The council needed to transform its resident experience while saving money, requiring a shift to a more resident-focused approach to service development.

Unboxed implemented a solution that included multiple Discovery phases and an Alpha project, focusing on user research, co-design workshops, and prototyping. This approach led to the development of a digital tool for the Homelessness Triage Centre, which demonstrated a potential annual saving of £70,000 and reduced demand on face-to-face appointments. Unboxed also helped the council build internal capability for ongoing agile and user-centered service improvement.
