London Borough of Lambeth improves community health in 6-week discovery with Unboxed

The London Borough of Lambeth, a diverse community, identified its Portuguese-speaking residents as being at risk of significant health and social inequalities. To address this challenge, the borough's Lambeth Portuguese Wellbeing Partnership engaged Unboxed to help scope a new 'Household Model' of care using user-centred design and community engagement services.

Unboxed implemented a six-week discovery phase that involved extensive user research, including 15 individual and 19 household interviews conducted primarily in Portuguese. This community-based approach equipped the partner organisations with new skills in user research and co-design, validating the Household Model concept. The solution resulted in a shared vision for the model, enabling the partnership to prototype interventions and run pilot experiments with approximately 35 households, building their capacity to sustainably reduce health inequalities.
