Compassion International Provides Greater Focus on Helping Children in Need After Automating Sponsorship Process

Compassion International is a Colorado Springs–based Christian child development organization that serves more than 1 million children in 26 countries through one-to-one sponsorship. With over 700,000 sponsors and roughly 1,600 web requests per day, Compassion faced growing operational strain: 600–800 exception cases daily (delayed or lost sponsor emails, payment changes, profile conflicts and online order issues) that required intensive manual work, slowed cash and information flow, and delayed communications to children.

Compassion partnered with Ultimus to standardize and automate exception handling, integrating the BPM platform with existing databases and giving 40 service representatives a streamlined workflow and visibility into cases. As a result, issues that once took days are now resolved in minutes, processing of donations, messages and payments is more efficient, sponsor relationships have improved, staff time has been freed to recruit new sponsors, and Compassion is extending Ultimus into additional operations.
