A UiPath Case Study
Strängnäs Municipality faced rising social exclusion and high costs from financial assistance, but lacked enough social workers to actively help unemployed residents into permanent work. To solve this, the municipality partnered with UiPath (with implementation partner Bitoreq) to apply robotic process automation to its financial assistance workflow.
Using UiPath to digitalize and automate the application-handling process—while leaving legally required final decisions to staff—Strängnäs cut processing time by about two‑thirds and freed social workers to meet citizens and support job placement. The automation helped the municipality save an estimated SEK 4 million a year, enabled role restructuring (nine out of ten employees obtained desired new positions), and created capacity to scale further automation efforts.
