Security Benefit, a North America-based insurance leader in annuities and mutual funds, was struggling with legacy, manual processes that created bottlenecks, slowed financial close activities, and consumed significant staff time. The company saw an opportunity to use UiPath robotic process automation (RPA) to modernize workflows across finance, investments, operations, and other departments.

Using UiPath, Security Benefit automated a wide range of business processes, from asset reconciliations and rate sheet updates to controls-related workflows, and launched employee-driven programs like ROAR20K to surface automation opportunities companywide. The results were substantial: one RPA project saved 17,000 hours annually, the company reported 40,000 labor hours saved in 2020, and nearly 55,000 total hours saved or gained through ROAR20K, with more than 50% employee participation.
