SCM Insurance Services tames manual data entry with AI based Document Understanding and RPA

SCM Insurance Services, Canada’s largest independent claims and risk management provider, was struggling with heavy manual paperwork and duplicate data entry across highly variable claims forms from different customers. To address this challenge, SCM worked with UiPath and partners to automate document processing using UiPath robotic process automation (RPA) and AI-based Document Understanding.

UiPath helped SCM deploy a scalable automation program that combined RPA with machine learning for extracting data from forms, eliminating manual data entry for First Notice of Loss (FNOL) and improving claims handling. The result was new insurance claims completed 80% faster, with production implemented in 8–12 weeks, 10 bots deployed, and employees freed to focus on higher-value work.
