RPA improves the lives of employees and citizens for the City of Copenhagen

The Municipality of Copenhagen faced rising demand from a rapidly growing population and strict budget limits, requiring smarter ways to deliver high-quality public services across 45,000 employees and seven committees. To streamline work and free staff from repetitive administration, the Municipality of Copenhagen adopted Robotic Process Automation (RPA) using UiPath, starting with UiPath’s trial and leveraging UiPath Academy for training.

UiPath helped the city build a Center of Excellence, pilot an HR “leavers” process and scale to 75 automated processes with a digital workforce of six unattended and 50 attended robots in a hybrid setup. The UiPath-enabled automations cut tasks such as citizen data requests from up to 10 hours to about half the time, freed one committee almost 8,500 hours per year (roughly six full-time employees), and reduced average delivery time for processes to about seven weeks—improving response times, employee satisfaction and service delivery.
