RPA becomes a hot property with HM Land Registry

HM Land Registry, the UK government department that safeguards land and property ownership across England and Wales, faced the challenge of running major legacy systems while improving service speed and reducing repetitive, administrative work for case workers during a wider transformation. The organisation chose UiPath RPA as a tactical tool to automate routine tasks and relieve staff of mundane processes so they could focus on higher‑value work.

Using UiPath, HM Land Registry built its first robot, “Reggie,” to automate reminder letters and then adapted that automation to other reminder and pending‑application checks, rolling the initial solution out to 14 offices in under two months. The UiPath automations saved the equivalent of 180 hours a week on the first process and nearly 290 hours in total after adaptations, grew to 10 robots within seven months, were rolled to nine offices for the more complex pending‑application workflow, and measurably sped up customer service while increasing staff buy‑in and reusability across the organisation.
