A UiPath Case Study
Helse Vest, the regional health authority serving about one million residents across Rogaland and Vestland in West Norway, faced a heavy administrative burden on its doctors and nurses from repetitive, double- and triple-entry clinical tasks across systems (DIPS, research databases, Cancer Registry, Natus). To reduce non‑clinical work and improve data quality, Helse Vest implemented UiPath Robotic Process Automation (RPA), deploying a bot nicknamed “Robbie Vest” to act as a digital colleague for clinical staff.
Using UiPath, Helse Vest automated more than 50 processes—automations that cut a prostate cancer registration task from 10 minutes to 2 minutes, extracted XML form data into the Natus birthing system, and intercepted appointment letters to avoid mailing. The UiPath solution freed over 14,000 staff hours per year, improved cancer-reporting quality and compliance, and is projected to save about 5,000,000 NOK in postage in 2020, while enabling faster, reusable deployments and plans to pair RPA with AI for further safety gains.
