NHS SBS Drives Efficiencies with RPA, Delivering Higher Value Services for Clients

NHS (through NHS Shared Business Services) provides large-scale finance, procurement and shared services across the UK NHS and faced pressure to reduce costs, improve accuracy and scale digital transformation across hundreds of repetitive financial processes. To do this it adopted Robotic Process Automation, partnering with UiPath to standardize and industrialize automation across its Finance & Accounting operations.

Using UiPath (including the cloud-based UiPath Orchestrator), NHS SBS deployed an ecosystem of robots covering more than 250 processes, turning a previously manual daily cashflow task that took ~20 people ~2 hours each into an automated job completed in under five hours. UiPath’s platform shortened delivery time for new automations from 16 to 8 weeks, centralized control and reduced downstream errors, freeing staff for higher-value work and enabling NHS to expand its service offerings and drive measurable efficiency gains.
