Improving citizen and employee experience with automation

Surrey County Council, a public sector authority serving 1.2 million people across the South of England, needed to do more with less as demand for services rose and funding fell. Its many legacy systems were highly customized and difficult to integrate, which led to manual copy-and-paste work, delays, and data errors. UiPath helped the council explore automation as part of its digital transformation and identify processes that could be streamlined without replacing core systems.

Using UiPath automation and a center of excellence approach, Surrey County Council started with simpler, high-value workflows such as payslip archiving and then expanded to more complex social care processes. The result was 60 automations in production, more than 40,000 hours of manual work saved, and £600,000 in annual savings. UiPath also helped improve employee experience and service delivery by reducing help desk workload and speeding up assessments for vulnerable residents.
