How Australian Unity Regained 22,493 of Manual Labor Hours in 8 Months

Australian Unity, a 178‑year‑old mutual serving one million Australians, faced a bottleneck: staff were manually extracting nearly 250 fields from 20–30 page My Aged Care PDF assessments to create client records. To eliminate this laborious work and improve customer service, Australian Unity turned to UiPath, implementing the UiPath Enterprise RPA Platform alongside Python for natural language processing.

Using UiPath Robots, the UiPath Robotic Enterprise Framework (REFramework) and a custom Python model to extract and structure data, Australian Unity automated client‑record creation. Over eight months (June 2018–Feb 2019) UiPath processed 42,000 transactions at a 94% success rate, cut average processing time from 30 minutes to 4 minutes, recovered 22,493 hours of manual work, and redeployed six employees—delivering faster service, higher employee satisfaction, and clear ROI.
