EDF Energy Drives Continuous Improvement in its Financial Shared Services Center

eDF Energy, the UK’s largest low‑carbon electricity supplier, needed to increase efficiency in its Financial Shared Service Center to support high transaction volumes and a continuous improvement agenda. Manual, multi‑system tasks such as journal entries consumed around 70 man‑hours during peak periods, so eDF Energy selected the UiPath Enterprise RPA Platform to pilot robotic process automation and build internal RPA capability quickly and affordably.

Working with PwC, UiPath robots were deployed to automate the journal entry workflow and other finance processes, going live within six months and later supporting a second Robot for peak demand. The automation doubled processing capacity, freed staff from repetitive tasks, delivered an estimated £50,000 annual saving, achieved 6x ROI across eight automated processes, and avoided over £100,000 in planning system development costs — demonstrating clear, measurable benefits from UiPath.
