Driving positive change through RPA

Caixa Geral de Depositos, a 144‑year‑old Portuguese bank, needed to streamline processes, cut operational costs and improve customer satisfaction across its wide-ranging retail and corporate services. In 2018 the bank engaged UiPath and deployed UiPath’s Robotic Process Automation (RPA), creating an RPA Center of Excellence located in the Business Operations Unit to coordinate adoption and pilot automation projects.

UiPath helped CGD roll out RPA pilots that scaled into a CoE-driven program across 18 departments, executing more than 110 RPA initiatives. The automation program — developed and governed with UiPath’s support — saved an estimated 370,000 employee hours, automated over 60,000 customer communications during COVID moratoriums, and freed staff to focus on higher-value work while improving process speed and customer service.
