Cleveland Clinic uses RPA to cut wait times at drive-through COVID-19 testing facilities and enable scaling capacity

Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit academic medical center, faced severe bottlenecks at its drive-through COVID-19 testing sites where manual patient verification, registration and label printing (performed remotely) produced multi-hour lines and routing errors. The organization had already chosen UiPath for its RPA program (using Orchestrator, Studio and robots) and turned to UiPath to rapidly automate this high-volume, error-prone process.

UiPath helped deploy an attended robot in 48 hours that verifies patients in the EHR, completes registration and sends labels to the correct printer; the bot completes the workflow in ~14–16 seconds versus 2–3 minutes manually, saving about 8–9 minutes per patient and producing zero misrouted labels. UiPath’s solution reduced wait times, enabled scalable testing capacity, eliminated costly manual errors and helped clear hospital backlogs.
