City National Bank Successfully Reduces Client Onboarding Time from 10 Minutes to Under One Minute

City National Bank, the Los Angeles–based "Bank to the Stars," needed faster, more consistent client onboarding and a way to handle surges in loan applications without overburdening staff. To improve customer service and colleague productivity, CNB partnered with UiPath and adopted UiPath RPA technologies—including Orchestrator, Unattended Robots, Automation Hub, and Task Capture—to target onboarding, check ordering, and SBA/PPP loan processes.

UiPath implemented robotic process automation that cut new client onboarding from 10 minutes to under one minute and reduced routine transactions (check orders, fee waivers, replacement cards) to seconds. With just two robots CNB saves 40 hours of work per day (about seven full‑time employees), and UiPath enabled a one‑robot SBA/PPP automation to be deployed in two days to handle pandemic loan volume; three processes are now automated and CNB plans to expand UiPath RPA across client‑facing and back‑office areas.
