Brent Council seize benefit of RPA to transform data and processes

Brent Council, one of London’s 32 borough councils, faced repetitive, manually intensive data and process tasks—most notably twice-yearly rent change uploads and complex debt recovery—while needing to improve data quality and integrate legacy systems as part of its digital transformation. The council chose UiPath’s Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to help free staff from routine work, speed up processing and make services more accurate and transparent for residents.

Using UiPath RPA, Brent automated the rent-change process in six weeks (cutting processing from over four minutes to 40 seconds) and estimates more than £32,000 saved in overtime; it also automated four linked debt-recovery processes to trigger letters, track outcomes and prompt follow-ups, improving resident contact and data quality. Within 12 months Brent had 10 robots and 10 automated processes in production, a Centre of Excellence, and trained internal staff—demonstrating UiPath’s role in embedding RPA into the council’s culture and delivering measurable time, cost and accuracy gains.
