Automation ‘alleviates pain’ for Swedish Medical Products Agency employees

The Swedish Medical Products Agency, Läkemedelsverket, needed a better way to handle growing administrative workloads in a highly regulated environment, including controlled narcotics authorizations and side-effect reporting. UiPath helped the agency explore robotic process automation (RPA) to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance data quality.

Using UiPath RPA, Läkemedelsverket automated duplicate checks, side-effect report registration, diary keeping, and other repetitive tasks, with robots such as “Allvert” and “Alma” supporting staff. The results were significant: the automations handled about 100,000 duplicate checks and 66,365 side-effect reports during the pandemic surge, saved millions of kronor, and delivered an estimated 7–8x ROI.
