Automating fines process from traffic cameras increases efficiency

The Lithuanian Traffic Police Service, part of Lithuania’s national police force, faced a rapidly growing workload from traffic violations recorded by speed cameras and other detection systems, including speeding and cases involving missing technical inspection or insurance. As the number of violations surged into the millions, manual processing became unsustainable, prompting the service to work with UiPath and RPA solutions to automate the case-handling process.

UiPath implemented end-to-end robotic process automation to gather case data, generate procedural documents and fines, route work to officers for approval, send documents via email or to Lithuania Post through API integration, and upload additional materials to the administrative offenses register. The impact was significant: automation cut processing time from about 10 minutes to 2 minutes per case, effectively doing the work of five officers, and in 2022 the robot produced more than 50,000 administrative offense reports.
