AI-enhanced Robots Process 93% of Invoices Automatically for a Major Members-only Retailer

Accelirate, an RPA consultancy working for a major members-only retailer, faced a crushing accounts-payable workload: 200–700 invoices per day that required 3–5 minutes each of manual data entry and supplier lookups. To address this, Accelirate deployed UiPath technologies—primarily UiPath Document Understanding with OCR and AI Fabric—to automate invoice ingestion and extraction.

Using UiPath Document Understanding, AI Fabric and Validation Station, Accelirate implemented a bot-driven workflow that reads emails, digitizes and extracts invoice and bill-of-lading data, routes high-confidence records straight to reconciliation, and sends low-confidence items to human review while retraining models. The UiPath solution processed 93% of invoices automatically with a 95% confidence score, reduced per-invoice processing to ~30 seconds, handled ~7,000 invoices monthly, saved 160+ hours per month, and freed up about 20% of AP staff time for higher-value work.
