Sappi, a global manufacturer of woodfiber-based renewable materials and paper products, needed a scalable way to reduce repetitive manual work across finance, HR, logistics, and manufacturing. With UiPath and its partner Office Samurai, Sappi looked for a more complete automation solution than custom IT fixes or ad hoc consulting, aiming to build internal automation expertise while improving efficiency.

UiPath helped Sappi implement intelligent automation across the business, starting with small bots and expanding to more complex processes like the Hermes finance report and the Gutenberg freight booking confirmation workflow using UiPath Document Understanding. The results were significant: Hermes cut a report from about an hour to under three minutes, Gutenberg processes about 12,000 documents annually with 80% requiring no human intervention, and Sappi has deployed 132 automations saving about 13,000 hours in Europe in the last year.
