Voestalpine Accelerates Ops with Capture Workflow Automation

Voestalpine Stahl Donawitz, a long-established Austrian steel mill producing about 1.5 million metric tons of steel annually, needed to replace paper-based procurement and document handling with a secure, SAP-integrated, and compliant digital process. The challenge was to manage high volumes of specs, orders and supplier documents across roughly 160 users and 25 MFPs while eliminating delays, duplicate copies and lost files.

Kofax ControlSuite—centered on AutoStore—was deployed to capture paper and electronic documents, provide MFP menus and PIN-based SAP lookups, index emails and barcodes, and automatically deliver records and attachments into SAP. The result is a central, tamper-proof archive accessible from SAP, streamlined workflows, automated error handling, and scalable processing (about 2,000–2,500 documents per month) that sped up operations and improved compliance.
