A Tungsten Automation Case Study
The University of Bristol, a leading UK research university, faced a 2009 UK Border Agency mandate to securely store passports, visas and related documentation for all international students and make them available on demand. Initially relying on photocopies in locked cabinets, the university needed a scalable, easy-to-use solution to scan, index and export documents into SharePoint while minimizing manual data entry and compliance risk.
Bristol implemented Kofax Express with Kofax VRS Elite and integrated it with Microsoft SharePoint, using batch scanning on Fujitsu scanners to enhance image quality and automatically populate key fields into the student records database. The solution was deployed quickly, improved processing speed and accuracy, reduced costs and administrative effort, and delivered reliable compliance with UK Border Agency requirements.
