A Tungsten Automation Case Study
Skipton Building Society, one of the UK’s largest mutuals serving over one million customers, needed to scale mortgage, savings and advice volumes to meet ambitious growth targets without increasing headcount or office space. Many core workflows were manual—creating a capacity bottleneck that would have required dozens of extra underwriters and advisers to meet five‑year objectives.
After an evaluation and proof‑of‑concept, Skipton deployed Kofax RPA (integrated with existing Kofax Transformation) to automate repetitive tasks—starting with an electronic house‑valuation robot built in three days. The automation achieved an 89% straight‑through processing rate, saving about 1,300 staff hours per year on valuations, with another ~11,000 hours of potential savings identified, faster reporting tasks, and increased capacity to grow while keeping costs and headcount flat.
