A Tungsten Automation Case Study
Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, needed to centralize and modernize its accounts payable function to boost productivity and reduce costs. The company created a Shared Service Center to pool resources and evaluated OCR technologies to replace a manual, paper-based invoice process.
Schneider chose Kofax ReadSoft for its strong SAP integration, allowing a smooth transition with minimal change for AP staff. By piloting dual input stations and driving OCR adoption, OCR invoice handling grew from 40% to 70% in the first year and now reaches about 90% for four business units (roughly 40,000 invoices/month), delivering more than 20% annual productivity gains and an overall processing speed at least three times faster than the old manual system while eliminating the costly microfilm archive.
