RS Components Automatically Processes 90% Of Invoices into SAP, without Human Intervention, Using Kofax Readsoft Invoices

RS Components, a global distributor of electronics and industrial products and part of Electrocomponents PLC, faced a major accounts-payable challenge: the UK finance team processed tens of thousands of supplier invoices each month (from 4,000 vendors in eight currencies) and relied on about 20 AP clerks manually posting invoices into a Europe-wide SAP ERP. The company needed to reduce costs, improve audit/compliance, and free staff for more value-added supplier-account management.

RS chose Kofax ReadSoft Invoices with Cogent Consulting to automate capture, SAP integration, workflow and electronic archiving, adding supplier data fields and handling stock and non-stock invoices. As a result, monthly invoice throughput rose to 55,000 (from 42,000), 90% of invoices are processed automatically, AP headcount fell from 20 to 10, verification is required for only 10% of invoices, and employment costs dropped about 36% annually, with improved compliance and ongoing process improvements.
