A Tungsten Automation Case Study
NetApp, a global leader in data storage and management, needed an enterprise search that would let customers find critical support information and reduce costly phone-based support. The challenge was that relevant content—support communities, bug databases, case notes, intranet sites, mailing list archives and more—was scattered across 150 disparate repositories (many with poor or no metadata) and subject to strict access controls, making comprehensive, accurate search difficult.
NetApp deployed Kofax Kapow to automatically extract and normalize content and metadata from those sources, enforce access rules, and deliver standardized feeds to its search appliance. The solution brought in 1M+ items, improved search relevance and security, delivered 80% more functionality at half the projected cost, and enabled customers to reliably self-serve support answers online.
