Mercedes Benz South Africa Streamlines Cross-Departmental Document Processing

Mercedes‑Benz South Africa (MBSA), with a network of over 150 dealers, a large East London manufacturing plant and headquarters in Zwartkop, faced slow, manual document processing across contracts, production job cards and accounts payable. High volumes—hundreds of job cards daily, thousands of dealer contracts requiring multi‑page supporting documents, and roughly 6,000 AP documents per month—meant lengthy retrieval times, storage constraints and inefficient workflows.

MBSA engaged systems integrator Belay to deploy an automated capture and indexing solution using Kofax (Capture, Transformation, Kapow) and CEPRA integrated with backend systems including SAP. Barcodes at source, automated scanning, classification and metadata capture sped retrieval, reduced processing time and storage needs, improved production tracking by VIN, cut duplicate‑payment risk in AP and required minimal training, delivering immediate operational gains.
