Magistratsabteilung 6 (MA 6), the City of Vienna’s central invoice-processing service, handles more than 1.2 million supplier invoices a year for municipal departments and healthcare providers. Their legacy capture system could not scale with rising volumes, required costly customizations and left most invoices needing manual data entry—putting supplier payments and staff productivity at risk.

MA 6 chose a Kofax-based capture solution implemented by SmartCAP IT‑Solutions to scan invoices from any source and automatically extract data with enhanced search and fuzzy-matching features. Automation of invoice processing rose from 10% to 25%, cutting manual work, reducing errors and speeding payments; MA 6 is now rolling out Kofax Analytics and planning further digitization to drive additional efficiency.
