A Tungsten Automation Case Study
Loma Linda University Health (LLUH), a large combined academic and medical center, faced fragmented, paper‑intensive workflows across departments—accounts payable, student records and medical imaging relied heavily on manual data entry and isolated scanning tools. With about 23 million medical images processed annually and up to 80% of capture processes manual, LLUH estimated up to $4M in AP savings and $250K in annual gains from electronic invoicing by moving to an enterprise capture platform.
LLUH implemented Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation through Lexmark and partner BCS to standardize capture, classification, extraction and validation across business units. The deployment made AP nearly fully automated, enabled invoice scanning on receipt for real‑time analysis, scaled from an initial 2.5 million documents to thousands processed daily, and delivered measurable productivity and cost‑savings while paving the way for student records automation and mobile capture.
