A Tungsten Automation Case Study
Kelag, one of Austria’s leading renewable energy providers, faced a growing operational challenge: roughly 60,000 invoices a year plus large volumes of other customer correspondence arrived in paper form across headquarters and regional offices. A traditional mailroom that delivered post to departments twice daily caused delays, lost productivity when staff were absent, and costly transport of paper between sites—prompting Kelag to look for a more efficient, scalable way to capture and route incoming mail.
Partnering with SmartCAP IT‑Solutions, Kelag built a digital mailroom using Kofax Capture, Front Office Server, Transformation and Analytics to scan, extract and automatically route documents into SAP and the right business processes. Scanning at HQ and in-branch eliminated physical transfers, improved traceability, and allowed remote access to correspondence. Implemented on time and within budget in about six months, the solution cut processing times (saving about 30 minutes/day on invoices and returns), reduced delays of up to two days for branch mail, and materially improved employee productivity and customer response times.
