IOD is a healthcare services and technology provider that helps hospitals, clinics and health systems manage imaging and health information management (HIM) workflows for more than 1,800 customers. Facing pressure from changing reimbursement models, clients demanded lower cost per discharge without sacrificing speed or quality, so IOD needed ways to cut labor and improve throughput in its document capture, indexing and archiving processes.

IOD integrated Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation with its Overlook for Imaging (OFI) workflow to add OCR, barcode recognition and automated quality checks, speeding validation and reducing prep time. The first deployment cut cost per image by about 33% (reducing FTEs by one-third), eliminated a weekend shift at one hospital and delivered better turnaround, visibility and error detection, with further gains expected from planned point-of-care scanning.
