A Tungsten Automation Case Study
Inselspital is a major Swiss university hospital that handles large volumes of patient records and administration—about 150,000 incoming invoices a year amid mounting cost pressures and a growing archive of paper files. To improve administrative efficiency without compromising care, the hospital needed a uniform scanning strategy to digitize current documents and kilometers of historical records while integrating with its patient systems (HIS) and SAP-based administrative environment.
Using Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation, deployed as a single, T‑Systems‑hosted implementation with Kodak scanners, Inselspital centralized scanning, automated invoice classification, applied barcode tracking and routed documents into OpenText MBPM and SAP workflows. The result is faster, more reliable document capture across clinical and back‑office areas, a stable and flexible single-server setup with transparent licensing, and capacity to expand automation (digital mailroom, more AP automation) as archives are digitized.
