ING-DiBa Uses Mobile Banking to Open New Lines of Customer Communications

ING‑DiBa, Germany’s third‑largest retail bank, wanted to turn customers’ smartphones into reliable document scanners to speed up transactions, improve customer satisfaction and expand its digital channels. The challenge was to deliver high‑quality, secure image capture on varied mobile devices and to feed those images and metadata automatically into the bank’s backend systems and workflows for fast, error‑free processing.

ING‑DiBa integrated Kofax Mobile Capture with its existing Kofax Capture and Transformation platform in about six months, enabling the app to capture, auto‑crop/de‑warp and compress photos, extract metadata and populate transfer forms or route documents into the document management workflow. Adoption soared after the December 2014 launch—reaching roughly 3,000 documents per day within three months—streamlining processing and reinforcing the bank’s “simple, fast and convenient” digital strategy.
