A Tungsten Automation Case Study
DVZ Datenverarbeitungszentrum Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern GmbH, a public‑sector IT services provider for the Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern state government, was charged with digitizing paper‑heavy administrative processes—most notably the Payroll and Pensions Office, which handled over 6 million pieces of paper annually. The project needed to streamline workflows, improve data quality and meet strict legal and BSI TR‑RESISCAN guidelines for replacement scanning.
DVZ implemented Kofax Capture with VRS Elite, adding qualified electronic signatures, automated data extraction, validation, image optimization and seamless integration with the central document management and user systems. The solution became the state standard, enabling the Payroll and Pensions Office to process about 1,500 incoming documents per day (4.5–5 million pages a year), achieve roughly 90% extraction accuracy (85% for handwritten numbers), speed up access to records, reduce manual tasks and maintain regulatory compliance.
