A Tungsten Automation Case Study
De Goudse Verzekeringen, an independent Dutch insurer founded in 1924 with about 900 employees, faced a major document-handling challenge: roughly 800 physical postal items plus a similar number of emails arrived daily and were processed manually by the Document Services team, causing slow throughput, frequent misclassification and workflow inconsistencies. After decades of incremental improvement, the company needed a reliable, automated mail-room solution to reduce errors and meet internal service targets.
Working with partner Docspro, De Goudse implemented Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation Modules to scan, classify and extract data from diverse documents—including handwritten letters—achieving about a 70% automatic recognition rate for nonstandard formats. A successful proof of concept led to full deployment, cutting daily digitization staff from 12 to 7, improving processing speed and accuracy, reducing misplaced documents, ensuring continuity of service within target times, and strengthening the company’s competitive position.
