DB Schenker Increases Productivity and Optimizes Costs with Digital Logistics Process

DB Schenker, a global logistics leader, needed state-of-the-art IT to deliver transparent, real-time proof-of-delivery (ePOD) across Southeast Europe. Many deliveries—especially direct deliveries—arrived on paper, creating up to 600,000 pages a year that had to be scanned and integrated; the existing OCR and digitization process couldn’t reliably read tracking numbers or sync with the company’s legacy tracking system.

The company implemented Kofax Capture (with Kofax VRS Elite) at 13 Fujitsu-equipped scanning centers across eight countries, automatically extracting tracking numbers and forwarding batches via FTP to the central data center in Vienna. The rollout standardized processes, increased productivity, cut costs compared with buying widespread delivery scanners, was quick to deploy and operate, and delivered a cost-effective ePOD solution that paid for itself within weeks.
