A Tungsten Automation Case Study
Damen Shipyards Group, a Netherlands-based shipbuilder with 36 yards and 12,000 employees, depended heavily on PDFs for contracts, visas and engineering documentation. With three different PDF tools in use across business units (about 850 users), licensing and support costs had grown unwieldy and a key vendor’s move to a cloud-first model created an opportunity to standardize and improve efficiency.
After a six-month pilot, Damen adopted Kofax Power PDF enterprise-wide, supported by Kofax and SoftwareONE through workshops and a coordinated rollout. The single-platform approach sped up PDF creation and provisioning, streamlined training and IT management, and cut licensing costs by more than €300,000 while supporting roughly 850 users — freeing the company to explore further document-automation improvements.
