Damartex UK Ltd (trading as Damart) is a British direct clothing retailer serving around 2 million customers. Facing high volumes of hand-written cheques and seasonal peaks, Damart’s manual cheque-processing workflow was slow, labour-intensive and error-prone, risking missed bank deadlines and delaying responses to customer payment enquiries.

Partnering with Ricoh, Damart deployed Kofax Capture, Transformation and VirtualReScan to batch-scan cheques and remittances, extract and verify data, and store images in a central repository integrated with accounting and order systems. The automation cut cheque-validation time by 75% (from 25 hours to just over six hours per week), reduced staffing needs for the task, lowered errors, improved first-time call resolution and freed teams to focus on higher-value customer service.
