Austrian Airlines - Customer Case Study

Austrian Airlines, Austria’s largest carrier with a 130‑destination network and about ten million passengers a year, faced a complex communications challenge: roughly 6,000 employees and external partners needed to exchange around 5.5 million messages monthly across diverse channels and aviation protocols (SITA, AFTN) as well as fax, SMS and email.

Kofax Communication Server was implemented as the central hub, integrating a dozen systems and routing SITA/AFTN/fax/SMS into Microsoft Exchange/Outlook while capturing paper documents via multifunction devices. The result is a unified, more efficient messaging environment—employees can send and receive all message types from Outlook, improving workflow and reducing costs by limiting fee‑based SITA traffic.
