ABB Schweiz improves invoice processing with Kofax technology

ABB Schweiz’s Shared Accounting Service Center in Baden handles about 400,000 invoices a year for the Swiss business and ABB’s Zurich headquarters. Dissatisfied with costly, low-quality outsourced processing, ABB brought invoice capture back in-house and planned a “Scanning Center of Excellence” with a tight one-year timeline to significantly improve quality and productivity.

Using Fujitsu production scanners and Kofax software, ABB now digitizes mail each morning, auto-extracts and validates invoice data against daily master data, and distributes invoices for same-day validation. Early results show about a 10% uplift in invoice throughput and up to 10% more cash discounts captured, with an expected break-even in roughly one year and a medium-term recognition target of 90%.
