A Tubular Labs Case Study
New Form Digital (NFD) is a venture-backed digital studio led by Discovery, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer that uses a proprietary, data-driven process to discover and incubate scripted digital talent and stories. Facing the challenge of redefining cinematic storytelling for digital audiences, NFD needed to identify rising digital-native creators, validate creative choices, and measure fan interaction across platforms to optimize casting, story and format.
By using Tubular Intelligence for influencer identification, content strategy and cross-platform tracking, NFD narrowed the field of relevant creators and optimized its Incubator projects. From Oct 2014–July 2015 the NFD shorts achieved a 1.65× (65%) increase in viewership and a 33% lift in engagement, averaging 223K views and 9% engagement versus creators’ averages of 135K and 6.8%; selected projects delivered multi‑fold audience gains and the data-driven approach helped NFD sell 17 series to distributors including Vimeo, Maker, CW The Seed, Refinery29, Fullscreen and AOL.
