A Trimble MEP Case Study
Ken Neyer Plumbing, Inc., a specialty plumbing contractor on the 1.2-million-sq-ft Liberty Center mixed‑use development, faced a major layout challenge: two buildings had post‑tensioned slabs that prohibited core drilling after the deck pour, requiring crews to locate over 400 sleeves in Building C and over 500 in Building H and stake hundreds of points to within 1/16‑inch on an aggressive pour schedule. To meet these constraints the company turned to Trimble MEP, deploying the Trimble Field Link for MEP solution with a rugged Trimble Field Tablet and a Trimble Robotic Total Station.
Trimble MEP’s Field Link system let Ken Neyer upload 3D models and control the total station from the tablet to point, stake and verify hanger/sleeve locations in the field, avoiding outside surveyors and keeping pace with four‑ to five‑pour weekly schedules. The team achieved the required 1/16‑inch accuracy across more than 900 sleeve locations, streamlined setup and prefab workflows (including DWG exports and automatic green/red tolerance flags), eliminated out‑of‑tolerance issues to date, and made the Trimble Field Link and Robotic Total Station an integral part of their field layout process.
