SB Mechanical, a premier mechanical and plumbing contractor in Ohio, was hired for a major hospital expansion project. Their challenge was the complexity of the building information modeling (BIM) process and the limitations of their previous software, which used generic parts that led to field interpretation issues and slowed down their workflow. They turned to vendor Trimble MEP and adopted the Trimble SysQue solution, an add-on for Autodesk Revit, to create more intelligent, data-rich models.

The Trimble SysQue solution provided access to a massive library of manufacturer-specific components, which drastically improved modelling accuracy. This allowed for faster design, automated the creation of spool sheets, and enabled dynamic scheduling that updated automatically with any changes. The implementation resulted in a 50% faster materials takeoff process and achieved a 10% cost savings on ductwork through increased field labor efficiency and reduced waste, with very little rework required due to improved coordination.
