A Trimble MEP Case Study
Price Electric, a leading commercial electrical contractor, was brought in to recover a delayed, $multi‑million, 65,000‑square‑foot university addition in Iowa after emerging mechanical, electrical and plumbing conflicts threatened the schedule. The work included a congested 300‑ft corridor with six 4‑inch raceways totaling over 1,000 degrees of bend and had to be completed in a tight three‑month window. To manage coordination and prefabrication, Price Electric used Trimble MEP’s SysQue for Revit MEP as part of its virtual design toolkit.
Trimble MEP’s SysQue enabled Price Electric to model systems to LOD 400, detect and resolve clashes in the virtual environment, and produce fabrication‑ready spools and detailed install sheets. Prefabricated raceways were delivered palletized and in install order, reducing on‑site staging, eliminating scrap, increasing crew confidence, and speeding installation — with reported drawing‑check time reductions of up to 50–60% in similar deployments — ultimately accelerating the project timeline and optimizing labor use.
