Accelerates Shop Production and Reduces Material Waste with Trimble’s FabShop

ACP Sheet Metal, a long-established Oklahoma City fabricator led by Nathan Dills, needed to speed up and improve the accuracy of its cutting operations and to better integrate design, estimating and manufacturing tools. To address this, ACP adopted Trimble MEP solutions—including Trimble FabShop (formerly Vulcan), DuctDesigner 3D and AutoBid SheetMetal—alongside their cutting hardware to create a seamless workflow from estimating and 3D detailing to shop fabrication.

Trimble MEP’s integrated suite (FabShop CAM, DuctDesigner 3D and AutoBid) was implemented to send designs directly to cutting equipment and automate takeoffs and estimates, eliminating manual data entry. The result: bidding and estimating became twice as fast and more accurate, shop productivity increased, labor handling was reduced (about 4 hours saved per job), and material waste fell roughly 60–70%; ACP also realized an estimated 24‑month ROI on the Vulcan Plus plasma solution using the Trimble workflow.
