Travelocity, the pioneering online travel agency, faced the challenge of shedding its “cold, transactional” image and building authentic connections with customers beyond bookings. To humanize the brand and extend its marketing reach, Travelocity aimed to create a community of influential travel experts who could represent the brand more personally and inform cross-functional decisions.
Travelocity launched the “Gnational Gnomad” influencer program—starting with a pilot event in New Orleans—then scaled it by identifying, engaging and nurturing nearly 100 key travel influencers and using Traackr to manage relationships and measure impact. The initiative drove substantial results: brand impressions rose 1,200%, brand mentions grew 1,000%, and activated influencers increased 330%, creating a durable, influential extension of Travelocity’s marketing organization.
