BAT provide multi device onboarding and induction for new staff

British American Tobacco (BAT), a multinational manufacturer with 44 factories in 39 countries and over 55,000 employees, needed a faster, more effective induction to issue security passes to new starters. Their previous all-day, classroom-based process was costly, slow (often taking up to two weeks to schedule), frequently resulted in test re-takes, and was described by employees as “clumsy and cumbersome,” so BAT sought a concise, user-friendly alternative.

Mind Click implemented a Totara LMS-hosted e-learning induction that converted the in-person day-long course into a two-hour, self-paced program accessible on mobile devices. The change removed the need for scheduled trainers and classes, cut onboarding time and costs, improved convenience by enabling iPad/Android access on corporate Wi‑Fi, and delivered a successful rollout that became the standard for warehouse entry.
