The Football Association (The FA), the governing body for football in England, needed a reliable way to monitor grassroots participation and trends across the population. To track who plays, how often and why, The FA commissioned monthly research—including surveys of 1,000 adults (16+) and, more recently, 200 children (14–15)—and engaged Toluna to run the program using Toluna Tracker.

Toluna Tracker delivered nationally representative, flexible monthly surveys (about 15 minutes, mixing closed and open questions), enabling The FA to segment audiences, change questions month-to-month and reach millions for meaningful insight. With the Toluna solution running for more than two years, The FA gained timely, measurable data on participation types and frequency, foresaw potential drop-offs, and bolstered its work with Sport England to project and address future participation trends.
