Sleep Innovations, a maker of mattresses, toppers and pillows, needed ongoing feedback from prior purchasers and purchase-intenders to test packaging, concepts and usage but found recruiting those hard-to-reach respondents costly and slow. To solve this, Sleep Innovations partnered with Toluna and used Toluna’s PanelPortal™ to create the “Sleep Talkers” online community and panel of 2,000+ pre-qualified members.
Toluna implemented the Sleep Talkers community with photo sharing, discussion boards and templated package-testing surveys to run branding, concept and product-optimization studies quickly. As a result Toluna helped Sleep Innovations cut overall research costs by more than $300,000 (plus over $25,000 in technology savings), achieve member response rates above 85%, reduce recruitment and incentive expenses, and deliver actionable insights (for example, prompting a price change that increased sales).
